R. KELLY CAN FLY!

R.Kelly On stage with no less than a 35 member background choir, R. Kelly's presence on the set of his rehearsal for "I Believe I Can Fly" was moving and inspirational. With an additional set of nine angelic youngsters clad in white choir robes, the set resembled a church rather than a high-tech TV broadcast. Dressed in street clothes, R. Kelly paced back and forth on stage wanting to convey his emotional message through his music. Nominated for both Song and Record of the Year, Kelly and his crew ran through it's performance, tweaking it along the way.

Coordinating any performance is tough, but organizing a stage show with more than 40 people is by no means an easy task. With all the elements of the peoduction in place - the choir set, the sound ready, the lighting positioned, R. Kelly opened the song alone on stage with elaborate and a dreamy simulated flight video behind him. As the song's inspirational climax appraoched, the choir was raised to the stage level via an elevator system beneath the floor. The beautifully crafted and choreographed stage performance is an absolutely incredible sight; it's not to be missed.
